How to Be a Successful Virtual Assistant

Jan 05, 2021

I get asked all the time what makes a successful Virtual Assistant. As though there was a special recipe.

It makes me think of grandkids marveling at the delight of their grandma’s “secret sauce”  and wanting to know what is in it that makes it so exceptional. And, more importantly, can they replicate her recipe if she gives it to them?

Anyone who knows me will tell you, I’m an open book. I don’t have secrets. What I know, I share.

Today I want to share these facts with you:

  • There are some central ingredients in becoming a successful Virtual Assistant.
  • That doesn’t mean they are fast or cheap ingredients to come by.

In other words, knowing the ingredients doesn’t guarantee anything. It’s how you use them.

Successful Virtual Assistants possess habits that empower them to face challenges, believe in themselves, and accomplish their goals.

The keyword there is “habits.”...

How to Create a New Path with a Successful Virtual Assistant Business

Sep 03, 2020

by

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you’re like me, you often think about your life and if you’re on the right path. Perhaps the more important question to ponder is: Where do you want your path to lead?

Right now, you have two choices:

1) maintain the status quo and end up in the same place you are right now, or
2) create a new path that opens a world of possibilities.

The first option is easy. You simply do nothing. Yes, doing nothing is an option and a choice. You don’t have to make any changes. Yet, what are the pitfalls? What are you compromising?

Aug 11, 2020

Does the sheer volume of messages in your inbox overwhelm you or inhibit your productivity? If your answer is YES to both, you’re not alone. Most Virtual Assistants and Virtual Experts® lose hours daily to their email inbox. You can take back your time by creating an email management plan that will boost your productivity.

Being a Virtual Assistant or Virtual Expert®, most of your business communication is done through email. Therefore, you can expect to spend a significant amount of time managing email.

That’s over one-fourth of a full-time VA's work hours. And those are primarily non-billable hours. YIKES!

Is all that time needed to manage your email or is it time spent distracting you from other tasks and...

How to Start A Successful Virtual Assistant and Virtual Expert® Career?

Aug 06, 2020

With a “traditional” career, there’s an order of operations to accomplishing your goals. There are specific stops along the way to success. Things like college degrees or trade school certificates. You know what’s expected of you because the road to get there has been mapped out for you.

With a Virtual career, the path is less defined. That’s partly because there are so many possibilities. It’s also partly because you get to create your career doing what you love in the time frame you want — not what a boss dictates.

Being in charge of your career and destiny is exciting! It can also cause apprehension because the path feels uncertain and unpredictable.

Starting a career as a Virtual Assistant or Virtual Expert® requires a relatively small start-up cost. You don’t need a ton of space. You need zero inventory. What you do need are a few essentials including a computer, internet, and a phone. Many of those essentials you likely...
